Uniswap price surged from around $6.63 to $8.49 as traders reacted to a major shift in the regulatory landscape. The rally accelerated after the US SEC opened the door for certain tokenized stocks to trade through permissioned AMMs. This development puts Uniswap v4 back in focus, which many believe could strongly impact the price.
With UNI breaking above $8, attention now shifts to whether the regulatory catalyst can increase the demand for the token in the coming days.
SEC Issues Innovation Exemption-Opening Doors for Permissioned AMM Trading
The SEC’s latest move has put permissioned automated market makers (AMMs) under the spotlight. The agency introduced a temporary framework for certain tokenised U.S. stocks, allowing approved venues to trade certain tokenised U.S. stocks through permissioned AMMs & liquidity pools. It also grants conditional regulatory relief to eligible liquidity providers supporting those pools.
However, the SEC has not approved Uniswap or endorsed Uniswap v4 directly, but it has created a regulatory pathway for compliant tokenised stock trading using permissioned AMM infrastructure. This matters for the DeFi platform, as it has already built infrastructure for this market through its v4 permissioned pools.
Uniswap has launched Permissioned Pools in July to support compliant trading of tokenised assets with firms including Superstate, Secuitize, and Dowgo. These pools can restrict access to approved wallets through on-chain compliance rules. This gives direct relevance to Uniswap, as it could create new trading and liquidity opportunities across Uniswap v4.
UNI Price Breaks Above $8.50 as Open Interest & Momentum Rise
UNI price has extended its breakout after clearing the $6.50 resistance zone and reached $8.86 before closing near $8.53. The daily chart shows a strong move through the previous resistance area around $6.50. This breakout also came with higher trading activity, keeping the bullish momentum elevated.

The open interest climbs to 11.21 million UNI, showing stronger participation across the derivatives market. Besides, the RSI has reached the overbought zone at 76.24, which is bullish but also attracts the risk of short-term consolidation. Therefore, the buyers are required to defend the breakout zone if UNI wants to maintain its upward momentum. Currently, the UNI price chart shows a clear shift from consolidation to price discovery, while rising open interest adds another layer of confirmation, although the elevated RSI remains cautious.
The Bottom Line—Can UNI Finally Break $10 and Reach $12 This Month?
Uniswap’s latest breakout has shifted the attention back towards the $10 psychological level. The chart shows immediate resistance around $8.63 to $8.86, and a sustained breakout above that range could push the rally to $9.30 and later to $10.15. This breakout could activate the higher target close to $12, while a failure may drag the levels back below $8 to $7.5 to $7.78 levels.
